The Motichoor Chaknachoor actress and Suniel Shetty’s only daughter Athiya Shetty tied the knot with the cricket sweetheart and Team India Vice Captain KL Rahul on 23rd January. Post the hype and hoopla of the wedding bells and fervent fans waiting to take a close look of their D-Day on social media, the newly wedded couple is yet to share a sneak peek of their special day. The couple had requested their guest to follow a no-mobile-phone policy just like Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal. There are certain things we do know about the D-day preps, but most of it has been kept under wraps. However, there are various rumours doing the rounds about the wedding – who featured among the guest list, who made it to the venue, who wore what, the menu, the decor, and everything else about the day.
Here are 5 news tidbits about Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul’s wedding, some that we are sure of and others that are still rumours.
1. The Wedding Venue
There was extensive media coverage about Suniel Shetty’s Khandala Estate being lit up before the D-Day. The proud father and new father-in-law had announced a few days back that the celebrations will be held at this farmhouse. While a lavish wedding was held in Mumbai yesterday, the couple has another ceremony coming up in Bengaluru a few days later.
2. Close Guarded Pre-Wedding Festivities
The highly private pre-wedding festivities had begun from 21st January evening with an intimate cocktail party. This was followed by mehndi and haldi ceremonies on 22nd January.
3. Intimate Wedding
Athiya and KL Rahul dated for almost 4 years before deciding to get married. The actress had posted a post of themselves on Instagram, but otherwise they had kept their relationship away from the constant glare of the paparazzi. Hence, it is only natural they would prefer to go for an intimate wedding with only their closest friends and family being present at the venue. It is heard that the couple had restricted their guest list to 100.
4. B-Town Guest List
The who’s who of Bollywood and the world of cricket who the fans feel may have been invited to the wedding include Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, MS Dhoni, Jackie Shroff, among others. We wait with bated breath to steal a glimpse at the designer wear that the celebs flaunted at the wedding.
5. South Indian Feast
If rumours are to be believed, a traditional South Indian fare will be served at the wedding, replete with the best delicacies of the cultures that both of them hail from. Typical to South Indian weddings, food was served on banana leaves.
