1. Nerve Tumours The benign variety is generally found in the main nerve that bridges the inner ear and the brain.
2. Meningiomas In this case, the brain tumours originate in the membranes around the brain and the spinal cord. They are rarely malignant.
3. Pituitary Tumours These in and around the pituitary gland, which is located near the base of the brain. They are usually benign in nature.
4. Other Brain Tumours Rare forms of brain tumours can develop in and around the brain like blood vessels, muscles, and connective tissues.
5. Secondary Brain Tumours They account for the majority of brain cancers. They start in a certain part of the body like lungs, kidney, breast, or skin, before spreading to the brain. These are always malignant.
